Precious Moments were created by a man named Sam Butcher early in the 1970’s, and are some of the most widely recognized figurines in the world. Precious Moments art originally became available to the general public as a line of posters and cards, (not yet called Precious Moments) Mister Butcher was the contacted by another company (Enesco) to develop and manufacture a figurine based on his art. 1978 was the year that the original 21 Precious Moments were introduced to the world of crafts and collecting. People began contacting him and relating stories of how his Precious Moments deeply touched their lives. Demand for Precious Moments was enormous, the figurines success was stunning, yet they were and still are made with the same care, faith, and love that have always been a trademark of those wonderful figurines, and their creator Sam Butcher. You can collect new and different figurines each year as Sam's talent and imagination never seems to wane, and his gift of creation shows no sign of letting up. There are more than 1500 Precious Moments figurines in the collection now. Clubs for collectors still form today and continue to be active all over the world.
